Webinar: Oropouche Virus, an Old Acquaintance

More details

Oropouche virus (OROV) is an emerging arbovirus of growing public health importance in Latin America, transmitted mainly by Culicoides-type vectors. This virus has caused multiple outbreaks in urban and rural areas, affecting thousands of people. Although its symptoms can resemble those of other febrile illnesses such as dengue, it is often missed diagnostically, which hampers its surveillance and control.

Understanding Oropouche virus is essential to strengthen the response to emerging viral diseases, improve diagnostic capacity, and promote effective prevention and epidemiological surveillance strategies. This webinar aimed to provide a space for scientific updates and discussion on its impact, transmission, diagnosis, and challenges in the current public health context.
